The place has the highest onsen per capita in Japan and most famous of them are the seven boling jigoku's (hells). These are natural boiling mud ponds that come in different colours and stinks.. not scents. An American B29 bomber dropped the bomb, which exploded some metres above, flattening the city and human beings in a matter of minutes. I enjoyed this hike better than Mt. Fuji at 3700 metres. Of course I used the rope car for the greater part, but the view was breath taking. I had dreams to climb Mt. Kenya but Fuji San has turned them into a life long vision... Woke up at 4.00 a.m. so as to be there by 8.00 a.m.! Actually over the holiday I consistently woke up at 5.00 a.m. latest and I liked it because I got lots done. I think Africans were not designed for these kind of temperatures.
